Child Protection Policy
Specific measures to protect children and young people who participate in or are affected by our programmes and activities.
1. Purpose
Abundant Life Hope recognises that children and young people have the right to be protected from harm. This policy sets out our commitment to safeguarding children who take part in, or are affected by, our education, mentorship, skills development and other community programmes in Mwiki and surrounding areas.
2. Definition of a Child
For the purposes of this policy, a child is any person under the age of 18 years, in line with the Constitution of Kenya and the Children Act.
3. Our Commitments
- We prioritise the best interests of the child in all decisions and activities that affect them.
- We create safe spaces where children can participate, learn and grow with dignity.
- We require appropriate adult supervision during all activities involving children.
- We obtain informed consent from parents or guardians before children take part in organised programmes.
- We treat all children with respect and without discrimination.
- We respond promptly and appropriately to any concern about a child’s safety or wellbeing.
4. Code of Conduct Around Children
Anyone representing Abundant Life Hope is expected to:
- Treat children with kindness, respect and patience.
- Avoid being alone with a child in a private or secluded place whenever possible.
- Use appropriate language and behaviour at all times.
- Never engage in any form of physical, emotional or sexual abuse or exploitation.
- Report any concern about a child’s safety without delay.
5. Reporting Concerns
Any concern that a child may be at risk of harm should be reported immediately through the organisation’s contact channels. All reports will be handled with care, confidentiality and seriousness, and referred to the appropriate authorities when required.

7. Review
This Child Protection Policy will be reviewed regularly and updated as needed.
